DR. ATTAH-UR-REHMAN – Chairman Advisory Board

Prof. Atta-ur-Rahman obtained his Ph.D. in organic chemistry from Cambridge University (1968). He has over 902 publications in leading international journals in several fields of organic chemistry including 700 research publications, 21 patents, 116 books and 65 chapters in books published by major U.S. and European presses. Seventy six students have completed their Ph.D. degrees under his supervision.

Prof. Rahman is the first scientist from the Muslim world to have won the prestigious UNESCO Science Prize (1999) in the 35 year old history of the Prize. . He was elected as Fellow of Royal Society (London) in July 2006, the only scientist from the Muslim world to have been so honoured in recognition of researches carried out within an OIC member states thereby becoming the one by the prestigious 360 year old scientific Society. He has been conferred honorary doctorate degrees by many universities including the degree of Doctor of Science (Sc.D.) by the Cambridge University (UK) (1987) and an Honorary degree of Doctor of Education by Coventry University UK in November 2007. He was elected Honorary Life Fellow of Kings College, Cambridge University, UK in 2007. He is President of Network of Academies of Sciences of Islamic Countries (NASIC) and the Vice-President (Central & South Asia) of the Academy of Sciences for the Developing World (TWAS) Council, and Foreign Fellow of Korean Academy of Sciences.

Prof. Atta-ur-Rahman was the Federal Minister for Science and Technology (14th March, 2000 – 20th November, 2002) and Federal Minister of Education 2002. He was the Chairman of the Higher Education Commission with the status of a Federal Minister from 2002-2008. The Government of Pakistan has conferred four civil awards, including Tamgha-i-Imtiaz (1983), Sitara-i-Imtiaz (1991), Hilal-i-Imtiaz (1998), and the highest national civil award Nishan-i-Imtiaz (2002), on him and the Austrian government also honoured him with its highest civil award (Grosse Goldene Ehrenzeischen am Bande" (2007) in recognition of his eminent contributions. Prof. Atta-ur-Rahman was the Coordinator General of COMSTECH, an OIC Ministerial Committee comprising the 57 Ministers of Science & Technology from 57 OIC member countries from 1996-June 2012. Prof. Atta-ur-Rahman was the President of the Pakistan Academy of Sciences (2003-2006) and was re elected as the President of the Academy in 2011.



JAVAID PASHA – Chairman Management Board & Vice Chairman Advisory Board

Javaid Pasha is a consummate entrepreneur having over 35 years of experience in various sectors including Politics, Oil & Gas, Power, Transportation, Leisure and Tourism, Minerals, Infrastructure, Telecommunications, Media (TV, Radio & Print), and Financial Services. Holding an Economics degree has been holding the position as a Chairman of various companies/organisations, involved in Construction, Communications and Media. He has been a driving force, in pioneering several communication and Media projects in Asia and Europe. Under his Chairmanship, in the field of communications in Pakistan, the company introduced Pi-tech indigenously developed technologies in the private sector.

His experience also includes construction projects for low cost housing, bridges, power plants and other infrastructure projects. His vision on the upcoming technological advancements prompted one of his companies to introduced Multimedia Multipoint Distribution system in Pakistan in the year 1995.

It was first of its kind incorporating, cable television, internet, telephony, data and other interactive services for the customer through Microwave technology on set top equipment. One of his companies was the first in the private sector to acquire a satellite transponder for Satellite television broadcast. He established the first digital communication paging device and network in Pakistan. He further established the first privately owned FM radio stations throughout Pakistan in the major cities of Islamabad, Lahore, and Karachi. Mr. Pasha held the position in the Government of Pakistan as Chairman Prime Minister Project Evaluation and Monitoring Authority with the status of secretary of state of Pakistan. During his tenure as Chairman, Mr. Pasha was responsible to establish strategies, oversee the implementation, and monitor the ongoing and upcoming governmental projects and report, progress and recommendations, directly to the Prime Minister of Pakistan.



TAHIR A. KHAN - Member Advisory Board

Mr Taher A. Khan is a leading name in the field of media, marketing and adverting in Pakistan. As Chairman and Founder of Interflow Group, he enjoys acclaim at home and abroad. Founded 30 years ago, the Interflow Group has evolved into the biggest communication and media force in Pakistan. It owns and operates 3 TV channels, 4 FM stations, advertising agencies, media houses and over a dozen companies involved in media production and marketing communication services. Taher is an active contributor to social causes and sits on the board of several philanthropic organizations. He has taught as a visiting professor at leading business schools and frequently lectures at seminars and conferences in Pakistan and abroad.



PROF. DR. MUHAMMAD IQBAL CHOUDHARY - Member Advisory Board

Dr. M. Iqbal Choudhary is the Director and Distinguished National Professor at International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (H. E. J. Research Institute of Chemistry and Dr. Panjwani Center for Molecular Medicine and Drug Research). He is among the most prominent scientists of Pakistan, recognized for his original contributions in the fields of natural products and bioorganic chemistry. Prof. Choudhary has over 850 publications (Impact factor over 1400, citations exceeding 7000, h-Index: 30) in the fields of organic and bioorganic chemistry, along with 37 international patents, 24 books and 38 chapters in books, published by major U.S. and European presses. On the basis of his researches, 61 students have been awarded Ph.D. degrees in various areas of natural product and bioorganic chemistry. He is the Volume Editor of many international book series and journals. He has served as a visiting faculty in many prestigious universities of the world including Cornell University (New York), Purdue University (Indiana), Pennsylvania State University (Pennsylvania), Scripps Institution of Oceanography (San Diego, California), The University Rode Island (Rhode Island, USA) and Various top Universities of Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, Kazakhstan and Iran.

Prof. Choudhary has won several national and international awards such as Hilal-e-Imtiaz (2007), Sitara-e-Imtiaz (2001) and Tamgha-e-Imtiaz (1999) by the President of Pakistan, Pakistan Academy of Sciences Gold Medal (1992), National Book Foundation Prize on best book (1995) and the Third World Academy of Sciences Young Scientist Prize (1994), Prof. Abdussalam (Nobel Laureate) Prize in Chemistry (1989). He received the prestigious title of “Distinguish National Processor” from the Higher Education Commission in 2004. He is a member and fellow of many prestigious societies including Fellow of the Third World Academy of Sciences, Islamic Academy of Sciences, Chemical Society of Pakistan, Royal Society of Chemistry (London) and LEAD-International. He is also the recipient of the 1st Khawarizmi International Award and Prize from the President of Islamic Republic of Iran (2006), Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) Award in Education by the President of Azerbaijan (2006) and COMSTECH Award in Chemistry by the Prime Minister of Pakistan (2010).



DR. SEEMI NAGMANA TAHIR - Member Advisory Board

Dr Seemi is Professor Mass Communication & Dean, Faculty of Arts, Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science & Technology. She was previously at the University of Balochistan in the Department of Mass communication where she held posts as Dean, Faculty of Education & Humanities, Associate Professor/Chairperson, Assistant Professor/Chairperson, Lecturer and Cooperative Teacher. Prior to this she has worked as a Correspondent, Daily Zamana Quetta, Editor Women’s page, Daily Jang Karachi and Editor Monthly “Roop”.

She has also remained a Member of PEMRA (Pakistan Electronic Media regulatory Authority) from 2002-2010, as well as a member of Association for Education in Journalism & Mass Communication (AEJMC), Columbia USA. She has also been a published author “Mein Ablagh-e-Aamma Aghaz Wa Irtaqa” 1888- 2005, published by the National Language Authority Islamabad in 2006. She has published more than 30 research papers in various research journals and also contributed four book chapters to international volumes.
